"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations."
James Madison
RECLAMATION / GENTRIFICATION
The reclamation of neighborhoods creates redeveloped areas for new residents to take over, beginning the cycle of segregation once again. When a neighborhood has become gentrified, many surviving residents, that have lived there for decades, are unable to keep up with the rising rent / home costs, and therefore cannot enjoy the support their neighborhood is receiving. Eventually being displaced, often into lower income segregated communities.
